What is prepaid electricity?

Prepaid electricity allows you to buy electricity as you need it in advance. This means you will not be receiving a traditional electricity bill in the mail each month. You control the usage and set your budget monthly.

How do I sign up?

Go to our website and enter your zip code to view plans in your area. You can also enroll over the phone at (833) 993-6374.

Do I have to notify my current electricity provider that I am switching?

Not at all. Before switching make sure that there no early termination fee with your existing provider.

Will there be a fee to switch?

There usually is no fee to switch. There may be a fee if you terminate your contract early with your current provider.

Do I have to run a credit check?

No, since we only offer prepaid plans, there will be no credit check required.

Since I will not be receiving a bill in the mail, how do I know when it’s time to make a payment?

We will send you daily account updates so you know your balance and usage, which can help you manage your electricity costs. We will also send you a warning notice before your account reaches zero.

How do I pay my bill?

You can pay by credit card online and by phone at (833) 993-6374. You can also pay by cash at many conveniently located authorized Pay Stations.

How do I avoid getting my service disconnected?

If you sign up for automatic payments, this will avoid your service being disconnected.

Do I need an email or text messaging to receive alerts about my bill?

  • If you chose email for your preferred communication method than you need a valid email address.
  • If you chose text messaging alerts, then make sure your data plan allows you to receive SMS messaging.

What do I do if I forgot my account username or password?

From the online account login screen, select “Forgot Password” and follow the prompts.

If you feel you’ve been scammed by someone claiming to be a Clyde Energy customer service representative call us at (833) 993-6374.

Clyde Energy will never demand you to provide account or payment information by email, show up at your place of residence to collect payment, or have your utility (CenterPoint, Oncor, AEP, or TNMP) collect payment on our behalf.
